Dutch weather on a date

Look up the weather on any date since 1901 near a place in the Netherlands: temperature, rain, sunshine and wind, measured by the KNMI, and how it compares with normal.

We don't keep what you search for, nor your location. We only use it for this search. From the daily data of the KNMI weather stations, from the nearest station that measured that day. With the average over 1991–2020 around that date.

Choose a date and a place in the Netherlands to see what the KNMI measured that day: temperature, rain, sunshine and wind, next to what is normal around that date.

Please note: The measurements come from the KNMI, the Dutch weather institute, from the nearest weather station that measured that day. That can be miles away, and the weather can differ from place to place. Old measurements were sometimes taken at another spot or with other instruments. The KNMI is not involved in this tool.

How it works

What was the weather like on your wedding day, the day you were born, or that one summer day long ago? Choose a date and a place in the Netherlands and see what the KNMI, the Dutch weather institute, measured that day.

Choose a date from January 1, 1901 and type a Dutch place, address or postcode, or use your location. We find the nearest KNMI weather station that measured a temperature that day and show what it measured: the average, lowest and highest temperature, precipitation, sunshine, wind, cloud cover and humidity.

Next to it is what is normal: the average over 1991–2020 at the same station, over the 15 days around the same date. So you can see whether it was a warm or a cold day for the time of year.

The further back, the fewer weather stations. Until 1906 only De Bilt measured, until 1951 there were five. The station can then be far from the place.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it say 'not measured' for precipitation?

Not every weather station measures everything, and in the past most stations did not yet measure precipitation. We use the nearest station that measured a temperature that day.

Can I see today's weather?

No. The KNMI adds the measurements of a day the next day. Choose a date up to yesterday.
