How the calculation works
Convert a weight between grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds and stone. Choose which unit to convert from and to and see the result at once. If you choose pounds or stone as the result, you also get pounds and ounces or stones and pounds, as used in the US and the UK.
Every unit of weight is defined as a number of kilograms: 1 pound (lb) is 0.45359237 kg, 1 ounce is 1/16 pound and 1 stone is 14 pounds. The calculator first converts your weight to kilograms and then to the unit you choose.
Rounding happens only at the end, to 4 decimal places. For pounds and ounces, the total is first rounded to 0.1 ounce and then split into whole pounds and the ounces left over. Stones and pounds work the same way, rounded to 0.1 pound. That way you get 14 lb 0 oz rather than 13 lb 16 oz.

Assumptions
- A pound (lb) is the international avoirdupois pound of exactly 0.45359237 kg.
- A stone is exactly 14 pounds and a pound is exactly 16 ounces.
- An ounce is the ordinary ounce of about 28.35 grams, not a troy ounce for precious metals and not a fluid ounce, which measures volume.
- The result is rounded to 4 decimal places; pounds and ounces to 0.1 ounce, stones and pounds to 0.1 pound.

How many kg are in a pound?
One pound (lb) is exactly 0.45359237 kg, about 454 grams. So 10 lb is about 4.54 kg.
How many pounds are in a kilogram?

How do I convert kg to stones and pounds?
Divide the kilograms by 6.35029318 to get stone. Multiply the part after the decimal point by 14 to get the extra pounds: 70 kg is 11.02 stone, so 11 stone and 0.3 pounds.
