Dutch MOT history (APK)

Look up the periodic inspections (APK, the Dutch MOT) of a vehicle with a Dutch number plate: every inspection since June 2022, the new expiry date and the defects found.

We do not keep the number plate. We only use it to ask the RDW for the inspections. From the open data of the RDW: per inspection the date, the new expiry date and the defects found. Nothing about the owner.

Please check

Enter a Dutch number plate to see the MOT inspections (APK) of that vehicle since June 2022, with the defects found.

Please note: The inspections and defects come from the open data of the RDW and are about the vehicle, not the owner. They go back to June 2022 and are at most a day old.

How it works

Buying a used car with a Dutch number plate? See how its periodic inspections (APK) went: when it was inspected, until when it passed and which defects the inspector found.

Enter the number plate. We ask the RDW for the reports of the periodic inspections and the defects found, and list them per inspection, newest first. The description of each defect comes from the list of defect codes of the RDW.

The RDW publishes this data from June 2022. Older inspections are not in it.

We only show the periodic inspection. Tachograph checks of lorries and buses are left out, and so are the time and the inspection station.

Frequently asked questions

Does a long list of defects mean a bad car?

Not necessarily. Many defects are small, such as a bulb or a wiper, and are fixed at the inspection. Look mostly at whether the same defect keeps coming back.

Why are there no inspections before June 2022?

The RDW publishes the reports and defects as open data from 2 June 2022.
