Please note: The recalls come from the public register of the RDW, the Dutch vehicle authority, and are updated every week. The descriptions are by the manufacturer or importer, in Dutch. Not every recall applies to every vehicle of a model.
How it works
Has your model had a recall, or are you thinking of buying a used car in the Netherlands? Type the make and model to see every recall in the register of the RDW, the Dutch vehicle authority, with the defect, the risk and the repair.
For a recall, the manufacturer or importer reports a defect to the RDW, with the risk and the repair. For each license plate the RDW records whether the repair has been reported. We count, per recall, how many vehicles of this make and model in the Netherlands it concerns, and for how many the repair has not been reported yet. Exported vehicles are not counted.
We update the data every week. Whether a particular car is included, you see with the Dutch license plate check. The descriptions are in Dutch, as the RDW publishes them.
Frequently asked questions
Does a recall apply to every car of this model?
No. It often concerns a production period, an engine or a version. The Dutch license plate check shows whether a car is included and whether the repair has been reported.
What should I do about an open recall?
Usually the manufacturer or importer sends you a letter. A dealer does the repair, free of charge. The recall says where to go.
