Net Salary Calculator Netherlands (Gross to Net, 2026)

Work out your net monthly salary in the Netherlands from your gross pay, using the 2026 payroll tax tables, and what is left of your holiday allowance.

This calculator applies Dutch rules. Text translated from Dutch; the Dutch version prevails. Open the Dutch version

Your gross salary per month according to your contract, without holiday allowance. Overtime and allowances are not included.

Payroll tax reduction

Choose Yes if your employer applies the payroll tax reduction (loonheffingskorting). It can only be applied by one employer or benefit at a time; with a second job it is usually No.

By law at least 8% of your gross salary; some collective labour agreements give more.

Your own share of the pension contribution, as shown on your payslip. It is deducted from your gross salary before payroll tax is calculated. If you do not know it, leave 0.

Thirteenth month

An extra month's salary per year. Your employer withholds payroll tax on it by the same table as for holiday allowance.

Dutch rules: payroll tax by the 2026 white monthly table of the Tax Administration, for people below state pension age. It does not include the 30% facility. The rates change every year; we check them at least once a year.

How the calculation works

How much of your gross salary do you keep? Enter your gross monthly salary and see what reaches your bank account each month, how much payroll tax your employer withholds and what is left of your holiday allowance. The rules are Dutch; the text is translated from Dutch.

We calculate like the payroll tax tables of the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) for 2026. Your monthly salary becomes an annual wage, rounded to the steps of the table. Payroll tax on that wage runs in two brackets, 35.75% and 37.56%, and 49.50% above 78,426 per year. With the payroll tax reduction, the general tax credit and the employed person's tax credit are deducted; both get smaller as you earn more.

Holiday allowance and a thirteenth month are special remuneration. They have their own rate, which depends on your annual wage. That is why you often keep less of holiday allowance than of an ordinary month.

Your employer pays the contribution under the Health Insurance Act (Zvw); it is not deducted from your salary. What you get back or pay extra in your income tax return can differ.

Formula

Net per month = gross salary − pension contribution − payroll tax. Payroll tax = (bracket rates on the table wage − general tax credit − employed person's tax credit) ÷ 12. Net holiday allowance = holiday allowance − holiday allowance × rate for special remuneration.

Assumptions

  • Payroll tax by the 2026 white tables, for people who live in the Netherlands and are below state pension age.
  • The 30% facility (the expat scheme) is not included. If it applies to you, your net salary is higher than shown here.
  • Working only part of the year in the Netherlands, living abroad and a second job at the same time are not covered.
  • The annual wage for holiday allowance is your wage for a whole year, with holiday allowance and thirteenth month.
  • Overtime, allowances, a company car and deductions other than pension are not included.
  • In your income tax return the result can differ, for example through deductions or other income.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my net holiday allowance so low?

Your employer withholds a higher percentage on holiday allowance than on your monthly salary. That percentage includes the phase-out of the tax credits at a higher income. In your income tax return the whole year is calculated together.

What is the payroll tax reduction (loonheffingskorting)?

The general tax credit and the employed person's tax credit together, settled through your salary. You can have it applied by only one employer or benefit. If you apply it twice, you pay extra afterwards.

Does this include the 30% facility for expats?

No. The 30% facility lets an employer pay part of your salary free of tax, so your net salary is higher. This calculator uses the normal rules. Check the conditions with the Tax Administration or your employer.

Does this match my payslip exactly?

For an ordinary monthly salary, the payroll tax matches the white monthly table of the Tax Administration. Your payslip can differ because of allowances, a benefit in kind, other contributions or another pay period, such as four weeks.
